Dementia Specific Care

Living with dementia changes what “care” needs to look like. UPA’s Dementia Specific Care is built around safety, dignity, and calm routines, delivered by trained staff who understand cognitive change, behaviour triggers, and the power of familiar faces. We focus on reducing distress, protecting independence where possible, and creating a day that feels steady, not clinical.

Whether you need ongoing residential dementia care or short-term respite, our approach supports both the person and the family.

Dementia is the term used to describe the symptoms of a large group of illnesses which cause a progressive decline in a person’s functioning. Dementia can influence a person’s behaviour including wandering, depression, anxious or agitated states, aggression, hallucinations and false ideas, and loss of inhibition. Although these can be upsetting, there are many strategies that may help.
