Wagga
Wagga
Wagga
Wagga is a vibrant and one of Australia’s leading regional
cities. Nestled on the banks of the magnificent Murrumbidgee River,
the original inhabitants, the Wiradjuri were the largest Aboriginal
tribe in New South Wales. It is from their language the city is
named. Wagga means crow and repeating it means crows, hence a place
of many crows. From these proud origins to the culturally rich
community that exists today, Wagga Wagga is considered a place
for people of all ages to enjoy the exciting and yet relaxed lifestyle
that exists within the city.
The
geographical location of Wagga Wagga is ideal for keeping in touch
with the trends that filter out of the major metropolitan cities
of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. Wagga Wagga is 518km
by rail from Sydney and 432km from Melbourne on the main Southern
line. It is situated on the Sturt Highway, which joins the Hume
Highway 48km to the east. It is the junction of the Sturt Highway
and the Trunk road known as the "Olympic Way". An
easy day trip in any direction can take you through the extremes
of Australia’s natural and cultivated environment. To the
east rises Mount Kosciuszko in the Snowy Mountains. To the west
lies Griffith, the heart of New South Wales’ biggest wine
producing region. An easy drive takes you to great Australian towns
like, Junee, Lockhart and Temora.
With
over 57,000 people living in Wagga, we have the lifestyle and facilities
to suit everyone. The Oasis swimming centre offers
Klim Swim, aqua areobics and the hydrotherapy pool. There are 4
bowling clubs to join, Pitch & Putt, tennis,

The Rock
The Rock is situated 25km south of Wagga Wagga. The Rock's main
street is a park-like thoroughfare. The town is dominated by the
unusual mountain of rock that rises from the plain 3km to the southwest.
The
rock hill is a dramatic landmark rising over 360m. This craggy
outcrop has picnic areas, bush trails and a spur track to the summit
where it is possible to see Mt Kosciusko on the far horizon.
The Rock can be accessed via the Tootool/Lockhart road. The reserve
is an island of natural habitat for native animals, including the
turquoise parrot and glossy black cockatoo.
West Wyalong
West Wyalong is located
on the crossroads of the Newell and Mid Western Highways, West
Wyalong offers excellent services.
