If you are a resident of the North Coast of New South Wales and in need of support, advice or a break from the caring role, the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC) is the place to call.

Carers often don’t identify with being a carer, however, if you are supporting or looking after a person who is frail aged, has a dementia, mental health diagnosis or a chronic or terminal  illness, then the chances are you are a carer and are entitled to receive some support.

 

 

 

How CRCC can help you:

•    To take a short break
•    Provide information on other carer services available
•    To support you as a carer in your caring role
•    Provide an 24/7 after hours service to support you in an emergency or crisis situation

• To assist you with booking respite in an aged care facility
• To access educational workshops, designed to support carers.

PROGRAMS
The following programs are facilitated by the team:

National Respite for Carers  – A program designed to offer support services to carers in need of a break from their caring role Our experienced staff can assist carers with arranging respite at home, in a community setting or booking respite in an aged care facility.

Mental Health Respite – Geared specifically towards carers of a person with a mental illness. A range of support and services may be available to assist.

Young Carers At Risk – This program caters specifically to young people who fill a caring role (often to a parent).  Our staff offer a range of support services and activities to assist young carers in their caring roles and to continue their education.

Young with Severe to Profound Disability – Staff can assist you to determine eligibility to access flexibnle short-term, planned or emergency respite to meet the needs of carers and the care recipient when no other supports are available.

Consumer Directed Respite Care – Packaged support for carers providing a range of options to meet individual needs.  Centre staff can assist you determine what support is most suitable.

Staff are well versed in what is happening in the industry, whether it is aged care or disabilities, they can help guide you through the maze to access the support and services that you or your loved one need. Our Staff are regularly updated about changes to the aged care gateway and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) roll out.  They can help you understand what you need to be asking for.

We have a strong network of providers who we refer you to meet your different needs. This also means we know the community and we know who operates in it that might be suitable to meet your needs. We can help you identify the right provider, contact them, check your eligibility and understand the cost involved (if any). The staff can also transfer you to other Centres throughout Australia if you require information about another area.

The services we provide are individually tailored to meet your needs and those services frequently utilised include; in-home assistance for persons who are aged or with a disability; transport, meals, home modifications, concessions, social support, respite, day activities; packaged support plus a range of other community and health services.
